Ten of nations's top-ranked high school marching bands are invited to compete for the coveted Grand Master's Trophy in the prestigious BLUE CROSS & BLUE SHIELD OF ARIZONA FIESTA BOWL NATIONAL BAND CHAMPIONSHIP. Each band will perform its best 10 minute field program for judges and 10,000 enthusiastic spectators at this pageantry in its 20th year.
The field contest takes place at ASU Sun Devil Stadium, home of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Football Classic, the NFL's Arizona Cardinals and the Arizona State Sun Devil football team. The field championship is held in conjunction with the MICRO AGE FIESTA BOWL PARADE, the only major bowl parade where bands are judged. Held in downtown Phoenix, the 1997 parade will feature 17 competing bands from 12 states and is broadcast nationally. (Check local tv listings for times. Some stations broadcast on New Year's Eve, others delay coverage until New Year's Day.)
